Oxnard California Celebration of the Whales Festival

Channel Islands Harbor Celebration of the Whales Festival

March 15, 2009

Oxnard, CA -- 14th Annual Celebration of the Whales Festival - March 15, 2009. There's no place along the California Coast where locals can lay claim to the migrating whales, though some say their viewing spots are the best. With literally dozens of whale watching trips and events in California, you have to pick and choose your whale festivals and excursions because it's simply impossible to see and do them all. For instance, just south of Oxnard on the Ventura and Los Angeles County Line in Malibu, another group celebrates the whales in an annual festival, too.

While you may or may not spot migrating whales during this fun festival, there are certainly plenty of opportunities to book one of the Oxnard daily whale watching excursions. This seaside city loves the ocean and its local businesses generally consider themselves stewards of the sea. Why? Just offshore an hour or so by boat you can visit the Channel Island. Island Packers out of Oxnard's Channel Island Harbor makes daily trips to the gems of the sea. And in Oxnard's bay, you can see sea lions lazily bask in the afternoon sun, dining on fish or just exploring. Visit Oxnard for an outdoor sea adventure guaranteed to delight the entire family.

There are still hotel rooms as of posting of this event: Affordable hotel rooms include Best Western, Hampton Inn and Casa Sirena on the waterfront. Our absolute favorite is Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach, but Four Points by Sheraton (in Ventura).
