Los Angeles is known for its superb cuisine, so you can expect the Flavors of Los Angeles Benefit for The American Liver Foundation to live up to expectations. This fundraising event to be hosted by the Greater Los Angeles Division of the American Liver Foundation (ALF) at The City National Bank Plaza in downtown Los Angeles, will be held on May 17, 2009, and the public is invited to wine & dine for a great cause.

Culinary connoisseur and Honorary Chair, Sophie Gayot, of GAYOT.com, is scheduled to appear. Members of the National Culinary Council for this fantastic event include Jacques Torres, Known as “Mr. Chocolate” & Food Network host, Patricia Wells, Paris-based journalist and author, and Roy Yamaguchi, founding Chef & owner of Roy’s Restaurants.

The evening under the stars begins with a cocktail reception and silent auction. Flavors guests will then be escorted to their table where they will join their own personal Chef Host. Nowhere else can Angelinos see these culinary experts at work—creating a menu that goes above and beyond the usual restaurant fare—while also benefiting a worthy cause.

“Proceeds from Flavors aid ALF to help those touched by liver disease and create awareness of the over 100 liver diseases,” added Taly Fantini, executive director, ALF. “We provide hope to more than 600,000 Californians touched by hepatitis C and many more residents in the five-county area touched by one of over 100 liver diseases.”

About the Los Angeles Division of the American Liver Foundation

The Greater Los Angeles Division of the American Liver Foundation is dedicated to the prevention, treatment and cure of hepatitis and other liver diseases through research, education and advocacy on behalf of those affected by or at risk of liver disease. It is through the generous support of our community partners that we are able to challenge liver diseases, afflictions that affect 1 in 10 Americans in their lifetime. More than 83% of the funds raised by our Chapter go toward our mission. Get the facts about liver disease: 30 million Americans are touched by liver disease. Liver disease doesn't discriminate: it affects all races, ages, and genders. Hepatitis C is four times more prevalent than HIV and there is no vaccine. More than 600,000 Californians are infected with Hepatitis C. More than 17,000 Americans are awaiting a life-saving liver transplant.
