ANGELS CAMP - Jumping Frog Jubilee and Calaveras County Fair. A popular contest based on Samuel  Clemens’ trips to the Gold Country region that inspired his published work, “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County”, about Jim Smiley and his frog Dan’l Webster. Event includes a carnival, vendors, games, entertainment and the famous Jumping Frog contest. Cost: $5 - 10. Location: Fairgrounds along Highway 49 between Angels Camp and Sonora.

CLEARLAKE - Catfish Derby. Largest Catfish Derby west of the Mississippi includes a grand prize of a boat and accessories! Goes through May 16. Sponsored by the Clearlake Oaks Glenhaven Business Association, entry fees are affordable for three days of fishing. Ranging between $10 and $50, kids 15 and younger can enter for around $10/each. CORONA - Koroneburg Old World Festival. Meet hundreds of family members living, working & playing in Southern California’s only permanent Renaissance Village! Visitors to this 1450-1600 European Village are entertained, discover fine arts and crafts, and enjoy delectable food and beverages. The setting is the fictitious estate of the Baron Heinrich Von Lauffer, located along the Rhine river (aka Santa Ana River) between Mainz and Strasbourg. Each year the Baron invites the finest minds and most talented actors to celebrate the coming of spring at his Barony of Koroneburg. The festival celebrates the inventions and changes of the renaissance period. Time: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays & 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. FULLERTON - Muckenthaler Motor Car Festival. The 15th Annual  Concours d'Elegance features a crowd-pleaser Hudson appearing in the movie Cars, and a special gallery exhibit featuring Pinewood Design ‘10 and artwork by Cliff Cramp and Don Derler. A live performance of bawdy pre-WWII songs by the stunning Janet Klein and Her Parlour Boys will be held on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., along with plenty of amazing automobile attractions. PLEASANTON - Please join us on Sunday, May 16, 2010 from 10AM to 4PM (rain or shine) for our 5th annual Hidden Gardens of the Valley Tour. Enjoy a stroll through ten of Pleasanton's most beautiful, private gardens. Hidden Gardens of the Valley Tour features Samantha's Sanctuary and other gracious gardens named for pets. SACRAMENTO - Carried with Courage Historic Flags. The California State Capitol is home to a remarkable collection of nearly 50 flags dating from the Civil War, Spanish American War and World War I. SAN DIEGO - Sicilian Festival. 17th Annual Sicilian Festival on the streets of San Diego’s Little Italy will come alive with the music, dance, art and cuisine of Sicily. Time: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event is free and packed with fun for the whole family. The festival will feature a wide variety of Italian-themed entertainment, Sicilian food specialties, beer and wine tent, Sicilian cultural pavilion, and more! SOQUEL - Woofstock West. 9th Annual Dog Festival will be held at Soquel High School. Time: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost: $10/dog, $2 donation person.

SUNOL - Toast of Spring on the Wildflower Train. Livermore Valley vintners host wine tasting to during a one hour excursion filled with views of California poppies, lupin and mustard wildflowers seen from a vintage train ride through Niles Canyon. Board at the old Sunol depot and travel part of the historic route of the first transcontinental railroad. The one-hour round-trip excursion is about 14 miles. TEMECULA - Western Days. Weekend annual mock gunfights, activities, vendors, and entertainment in the streets of Old Town. Old west exhibits, western music, Native American exhibits, a Chili Cook Off on Sunday, and calf roping demonstrations. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Chili Cookoff on Sunday at 11 a.m.
