AVALON - Buffalo Run. Marathon and 5K Run. The Buffalo Run is the ultimate in trail running using the East End trails of Catalina Island. This half marathon course takes you from sea level to a 1600 foot elevation then returns to sea level. Enjoy views of San Clemente Island and Avalon. IRVINE - Hope & Harmony 5K Run/Walk. The 5K run/walk begins at 8 a.m. and a 1-mile kids run starts at 10 a.m., in addition to a family-friendly expo area complete with Kids Fun Zone, food, music, activities and vendor booths. Recognition gifts to winners, and goody bags, t-shirts and entry into the expo provided to all registrants. Proceeds from event support the mission and programs of Beckstrand Cancer Foundation, working to improve and enhance quality of life for cancer patients and their families. SEAL BEACH - Red Car Museum is open. Noon to 3 p.m. Visit the past with a look at this historic rail car that used to drive between Los Angeles and Seal Beach daily. Transformed into a museum with videos, pictures and a great collection of memorabilia, it is well worth a stop and look. Open 2nd & 4th Saturdays, the museum provides the most comprehensive look into the history of Seal Beach. Donations are accepted.
