Dig out your favorite Boston and/or Manhattan clam chowder recipes for the 29th Annual Clam Chowder Cook-off, Saturday, February 20, 2010, at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The three divisions are Restaurant, Individual and Corporate/Media. Entry fee includes two T-shirts and two unlimited ride passes for the Boardwalk per team if registered by Friday, January 22, 2010. BOONVILLE - 2010 International Alsace Varietals Festival. Celebrate your favorite white wines, complete with music, food, and more! Event highlights include Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Muscat, made by the world’s finest producers of Alsace-style wines. Lectures, interaction with winemakers, sampling and dining make for a complete and fulfilling weekend.

Technical Conference: 8 to 11 a.m.  Winemakers from around the world discuss winemaking and grape growing specific to Alsace Varietals such as Gewurztraminer, Riesling and Pinot Gris. Cost: $45
Alsace Varietals Tasting: 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Muscat made by wineries from around the world, music, foods paired perfectly with the wines and meet the winemakers and winery owners as they pour their finest.
Cost: $65 per person
Alsace Festival Winemakers Dinner at the Boonville Hotel: 6:30 p.m. A sumptuous, sit-down dinner at the charming Boonville Hotel with the winemakers features Alsace-style whites and Pinot Noir, and a menu crafted by Chef/Owner Johnny Schmitt. Cost: $125.

FULLERTON - Train Tour and Chinatown. Muckenthaler Museum is putting together a day in L.A. Begins at Fullerton Train Station at 7:15 AM and take the Metrolink train to Union Station. Get tour of station, then walk three blocks to Chinatown and tour the Historical city. At 10 AM tour the Chinese American Museum before sitting down for a remarkable dim-sum lunch at LA’s best dim-sum restaurant, Ocean Seafood. After lunch, watch the 111th annual Chinese New Year Golden Dragon Parade, then return to Fullerton on the 4:30 PM train and be back a few minutes after 5 PM. $75 Adults / $70 Seniors.
