CARLSBAD - Moog: The Man I Knew and the Machine I Learned. An evening of musical insight, performance, and inspiration is presented by David Borden, composer and founder of Mother Mallard’s Portable Masterpiece Company (the world’s first synthesizer ensemble), along with performer, composer and arranger Josh Oxford (Ithaca College). David Borden with Josh Oxford will perform David Borden’s composition “Easter” (1970), with Borden playing on the Moog Voyager and Oxford performing on the MiniMoog.  see more events
CUYAMA - Cuyama Valley Car Show. The 19th Annual Car Show for the Cuyama Eighth Grade Elementary School features twenty-two classes including Ford, Chevy, Muscle Car, Mopar,  Scion, 55-57 Chevy, 2 Corvette classes, 2 Mustang classes, 1949-75 Stock, Pre-48 Vintage, T-Buckets, and a variety of Street Rod classes. Awards will be given in all classes and each participant will receive a dash plaque.  Special awards will be given by the 8th grade students. Vendor booths available.  There will be games, exhibits, a huge raffle, and great food.  Festivities will end by 2 p.m., so come out early.  All money raised pays for the annual 8th grade class trip and graduation. Cuyama is located about a one-hour drive from both Bakersfield and Santa Maria on State Highway 166.  Time: 8 a.m., balloting begins at 10. Cost: Car registration $20 in advance, $25 the day of the event.  Admission is free for the public. VACAVILLE - Medieval Fantasy Festival. Annual Medieval Fantasy Festival offers entertainment and fun such as Pumpkin Chucking with catapults. This Ratapult will have several divisions so that all can have their chance at flinging artificial rats. Creative folks may design and make fantastic costumes for their puppet rat. Longest distance for each age group wins a prize. All are welcome to walk in the Pied Piper Parade. For more information on all division of the Ratapult,  and the annual Medieval event with booths, food, entertainment and costumes, entries to Ratapult will be available during the two day  festival. VENTURA - Meet weaver Deborah Jarchow at Museum of Ventura County during Ventura’s Spring ArtWalk 2010, on Saturday April 17, from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m., and on Sunday, April 18, from 12:00 to 5:00 pm, view her weavings of deep color and texture, and purchase scarves, shawls, ruanas and other garments.
