AVALON - Jazz Trax Jazz Concerts on Catalina Island. Top jazz artists perform Oct. 8-11; and Oct. 15-18. Costs vary.

BLUE LAKE -  Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze. Directions: Northbound Hwy 101: Guintoli exit - go left. Follow directions to Mad River Beach and look for signs to Corn Maze/Pumpkin Patch toward the big red barn.

CARLSBAD - Pumpkin Plunge.  Halloween bash at the Monroe Street Pool includes ghostly games and creepy contests like bobbing for brains, fishing for sea monsters, climbing the Wall of Doom, and plunging off the Tower of Terror. Creepy crafts, a giant waterslide, and carnival games are included in this unique event. And don't forget your bag for Trick-or-Treating. The San Dieguito Synchronized Swimmers and Dive San Diego have created a Halloween show just for our event. Come in costume and enter the costume contest for all ages, but don't forget your swim suit! Food and drinks are available for sale. Time: 12 p.m. - 3 p.m. Cost: $4 to 8. COSTA MESA - Fall Concert Series at Orange County Market Place. Brian Lynn Jones Band and his Misfit Cowboys in a Rock ‘n’ Tonk Country show at noon and 2 p.m. with Kelly Boys Country Dance Lessons from 11:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.Cost: Free with Market Place admission. DOMINGUEZ HILLS -  Early California Fandango & 1846 Battle Reenactment. Free - Bring the whole family to a Day of Living History at the Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum, as Californio vaqueros & Yankee marines recreate thrilling authentic events of the Mexican- American War just prior to Statehood; musicians Los Californios play Fandango music while Yesteryears Dancers perform and lead audience participation in easy vintage dances for all ages; visit with Don Manuel Dominguez & other costumed historical characters; children's games; museum exhibits, military camp and docent tours; food vendors. HUNTINGTON BEACH Oktoberfest German Celebration. Get out the lederhosen, dirndl and beer stein for a good time with an Oom-pah band from Germany. Beautiful bar maids, scrumptious strudels, and imported draft beers, plus lots of liqueurs to wet the whistle, and plenty of dancing (chicken dance is a must). JULIAN - Fall Apple Harvest. A San Diego tradition, the Annual Julian Fall Apple Harvest runs through November 15. This year, the Apple Harvest celebrates its 100th birthday as thousands of visitors venture to this historic East County mining town, nestled in the Cuyamaca Mountains, to sample fresh crisp apples, homemade apple pies and ciders. Visitors can also enjoy acres of colorful fall foliage, charming bed and breakfast inns, art shows, quaint antique shops and live entertainment.

LATRHOP  - Dell'Osso Family Farm Pumpkin Maze. This 11th annual event includes an awesome maze to work your way out of, plus pumpkin blaster where you can shoot miniature pumpkins, Kiddie Land, Pony Rides, a Petting Zoo, Face Painting, Tractor Train, free Hay Ride, free Hay Bale Pyramid, free Speedway, free Hay Bale Labyrinth, Maze Bridges, food & fun. MURPHYS - Art Walk. Murphys Art Walk features 30 artists with 20 art galleries and businesses participating. Time: 4 to 7 p.m. Cost: Free. Location: Downtown Murphys, CA.

OAKHURST - Chocolate and Wine Festival. Arts, crafts, auction, games, rides, Chocolate & Wine, car show and Costume Parade for Kids on Saturday.  Time: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Location: Oakhurst Community Park. Cost: $2 adult admission.

OCEANSIDE -  Coming Out Day Pride at The Beach. Event sponsored by the North County LGBT coalition. This event celebrates national coming out day for the October awareness day of diversity. ORANGE- Irvine Park Railroad Pumpkin Patch. Fun for all ages, but designed for kids. Ride the train, play carnival games, hay rides, maze, haunted house, and pumpkins. POMONA - Off Road Expo. Nation's largest consecutive off road expo event with hundreds of exhibits invites the public to attend. Time: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost: $10 adult; $5 child; Free under 6 years. RICHMOND - Harmony Walk to End Hunger.  Spend one day walking 3.5 miles to help GRIP change the lives of over 14,000 homeless individuals and families in Contra Costa Family. Proceeds provide meals, housing, and support to help hungry and homeless individuals and families become self-sufficient. SAN FRANCISCO - Festival at the Fort. Fort Mason comes allive during this Fleet Week Festival at the fort. Blue Angels and Canadian Snowbirds annual air and water show, activities for kids, children’s rides and inflatables, an exhibit from the US Navy in Space program, entertainment with students of Fort Mason’s own Blue Bear School of Music and San Francisco Children’s Arts Center, comfortable seating areas with food, micro beers and gourmet wines are part of this annual celebration. SAN FRANCISCO - Teatro ZinZanni presents Brevé. Teatro ZinZanni brunch with a twist on alternate Saturdays. SAN JOSE - COPPÉLIA, full-length ballet in three acts. Coppélia is a lighthearted ballet that is perfect family fare for its easy-to-understand story, humorous special effects, and exuberant dancing. Derived from a tale by E.T.A. Hoffmann, it is the story of a mysterious old toy maker who creates a beautiful doll so life-like that an entire village is fooled into believing her to be real. A young man becomes captivated by "the girl with the enamel eyes", and his fiancée is not ready to step aside for this new "girl" in town. WESTLAKE VILLAGE - 2009 Inaugural Sherwood Concours d’ Elegance. The American Red Cross of Ventura County hosts its inaugural Sherwood Concours d’ Elegance taking place at one of Ventura County’s premier venues, Sherwood Country Club on Saturday and Sunday, October 10-11, 2009.  The two-day, action packed event includes exciting rare and one-of-a-kind automobiles on display.  Thousands of automobile enthusiasts and car collectors will participate. 6th Annual Clara Barton Awards, will also be celebrated in conjunction with this event on October 10.
