  COSTA MESA - Orange County Fair. Orange County Fair is one of the most popular urban fairs in the U.S. Pig races, people contests, carnival rides, food, fun, and loads of live entertainment and fun for the entire family. GILROY - Gilroy Garlic Festival. Foods, exciting garlic games and contests, booths, cooking with garlic, bands and entertainment, and garlic galore! Runs through July 26.

HUNTINGTON BEACH - US Open of Surfing. On this final day of the US Open of Surfing the top surfer is selected in final heats. While the Thursday through Saturday beach games such as BMX are winding down early, this is the most exciting day to see the winner of the surf competition be selected and win his cash prize. Get to town early and get parked. Parking spots are at a premium.  Time: Daylight. Cost: Free. Location: Huntington Beach Pier (south side) @ Pacific Coast Highway, Huntington Beach, CA.

LONG BEACH - Julius Caesar, play. Long Beach Shakespeare Company's FREE Summer Shakespeare Festival is back for its 11th Season! Intrigue, conspiracy, murder... and a ghost! It's a power struggle--Roman style. On stage in the classic political thriller! William Shakespeare's JULIUS CAESAR. It's festival seating: bring blankets or low-backed chairs to sit on. Bring a picnic or get a meal there! Food and beverages will be available on site! A glorious spectacle! Saturdays at 6pm, Sundays at 2pm at the Expo Building, 4321 Atlantic in Bixby Knolls, Long Beach, CA.

OXNARD - Oxnard Salsa Festival. Two days of spicy foods and sizzling entertainment in downtown Oxnard. The 16th Annual  Festival is presented by the Oxnard Downtowners and features top salsa bands, non-stop salsa dancing, vendor marketplace shopping, Kids Korner, Salsa Tasting Tent, international foods, a salsa recipe contest, and more. This award-winning Festival is held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Location: Plaza Park, Fifth & B Streets, Oxnard, CA.  Admission and parking are Free. Pets and coolers are not permitted. SANTA CRUZ - Wharf to Wharf Race. Santa Cruz to Capitola six mile race. Cost: $35. Location: Starts at Santa Cruz Wharf, Santa Cruz, CA.
