COLOMA - Gold Discovery Day - Gold was discovered on January 24, 1848. It's commemorated on the anniversary of James Marshall's momentous discovery of gold in the tailrace of Sutter's Mill. Historic demonstrations, tours, speakers, and Gold Rush music highlight this annual commemoration. HUNTINGTON BEACH - All Star Bands Together for a Dream and a Cure  Benefit for the NKS Foundation featuring Robbie Armstrong Band, Erich Munzner & Good Fortune (features John Mayall Bluesbreakers Bass Play, Hank Van Sickle, and Walter Trout Drummer, Rick Elliott), plus Midnight Groove Band, and more. Evening ends with an All-Star Jam! Raffles, donations, and all other proceeds will directly benefit the non-profit NKS Foundation which funds cancer research and grants dreams of cancer victims and their families. WEED - Sled Dog Races. Siskiyou Sled Dog Races Distance Class race is an Official Iditarod Qualifying Race in 2009. The Siskiyou 135 Mile Sled Dog Race, or Siskiyou 220 has been increased to 220 miles to fulfill Iditarod qualifications. Sprint & Skijor team race competitions are held today and on Jan. 25.
