CHULA VISTA - Lemon Festival.  This annual event honoring lemons features live entertainment, arts and crafts, a beer garden, a rock climbing wall, dance performances, lemon contests, a kids zone and more. COSTA MESA - Orange County Fair. Orange County Fair is one of the most popular urban fairs in the U.S. Pig races, people contests, carnival rides, food, fun, and loads of live entertainment and fun for the entire family. HERMOSA BEACH - AVP Crocs Tour Hermosa Beach Open presented by Bud Light. The world’s best players converge at Hermosa Beach August 6-9. Don’t miss Olympic Gold Medalists Phil Dalhausser and his partner Todd Rogers. No. 2 team of Jake Gibb and local hero Sean Rosenthal, dominant duo of Nicole Branagh and Elaine Youngs and USC All-Americans Jen Kessy and April Ross, promise excitement on the sand. The men’s and women’s finals will air live on NBC. In addition to the volleyball tournament, every AVP event features the ultimate beach party put on by its numerous active lifestyle-focused sponsors. LONG BEACH - Julius Caesar, play. Long Beach Shakespeare Company's FREE Summer Shakespeare Festival is back for its 11th Season! Intrigue, conspiracy, murder... and a ghost! It's a power struggle--Roman style. On stage in the classic political thriller! William Shakespeare's JULIUS CAESAR. It's festival seating: bring blankets or low-backed chairs to sit on. Bring a picnic or get a meal there! Food and beverages will be available on site! A glorious spectacle! PASADENA - Rose Bowl Flea Market. Rose Bowl Flea Market and Market Place is billed as the flea market of the stars. With over 2500 vendors, this decades-long tradition of outdoor shopping is a whopping success that continues to delight all ages. SAN DIEGO - Wicked, musical. The Untold Story of the Witches of Oz, Wicked is Broadway's biggest blockbuster with a Grammy and three Tony awards, but does equally well in San Diego. SAN FRANCISCO -  SF Chefs. Food. Wine. The SF Chefs. Food. Wine. is a four day food and wine event through Aug. 9, celebrating the unique flavor, diversity and bounty of Northern California. The main tasting tent will be in Union Square, where chefs, wine makers and distillers will offer an exploration of taste featuring local products. Classes and seminars will offer interactive opportunities for the public to participate with local farmers, ranchers, chefs, winemakers, distillers, media, luminaries, authors, vintners, mixologists and culinary experts in an entertaining forum. SAN JOSE -  San Jose Jazz Festival. San Jose Jazz Fest includes music from local and international artists on nine stages throughout downtown. Cost: $10-30. Aug. 7-9.

SCOTTS VALLEY - Scotts Valley Art & Wine Festival. 10th annual event features artwork created by more than 100 local artists, food, wine, live music, kids activities and more. Time: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost: Free. Location:   Skypark, 361 Kings Village Road, Scotts Valley, CA.

SUNOL - Historic Train Rides. Depart from Sunol depot and travel part of the historic route of the first transcontinental railroad. Departure times: 10:30 a.m.; Noon; 1:30 and 3 p.m. Cost: $10. Location: Sunol Station, 6 Kilkare Rd., Sunol, CA Call: (925) 862-9063.
