CALIFORNIA BEACHES - Grunion Run.  Southern California beaches grunion run spans the beaches from San Diego to Santa Barbara in Southern California. Time: 11:05 PM - 10:05 AM* (Aug. 9). Cost: Must have California fishing license to fish the shoreline for grunion.

COSTA MESA - Orange County Fair. HERMOSA BEACH - AVP Crocs Tour Hermosa Beach Open presented by Bud Light. The world’s best players converge at Hermosa Beach August 6-9. Don’t miss Olympic Gold Medalists Phil Dalhausser and his partner Todd Rogers. No. 2 team of Jake Gibb and local hero Sean Rosenthal, dominant duo of Nicole Branagh and Elaine Youngs and USC All-Americans Jen Kessy and April Ross, promise excitement on the sand. The men’s and women’s finals will air live on NBC. LAGUNA BEACH - Art-A-Fair festival. Annual art event located in a beautiful garden setting with 125 artists, plus live entertainment, fine food, demonstrations and workshops. LONG BEACH - Julius Caesar, play. Long Beach Shakespeare Company's FREE Summer Shakespeare Festival is back for its 11th Season! Intrigue, conspiracy, murder... and a ghost! PASO ROBLES - Winemakers' Cookoff. The 11th annual event is Paso Robles’ most unique Wine and Food Event!! It begins with a  casual evening of food, wine, live music and fun at the luxurious River Oaks Hot Springs Spa.  Meet 30 of the appellation’s finest winemakers as they pair their own grilled culinary creations with some of their best wines. All proceeds go to the Harlow Ford Scholarship Fund benefiting local high school seniors. Time: 6 to 9 p.m. Cost: $75 per person, must be 21 or older to attend. SAN FRANCISCO -  SF Chefs. Food. Wine. The SF Chefs. Food. Wine. is a four day food and wine event through Aug. 9, celebrating the unique flavor, diversity and bounty of Northern California. The main tasting tent will be in Union Square, where chefs, wine makers and distillers will offer an exploration of taste featuring local products. Classes and seminars will offer interactive opportunities for the public to participate with local farmers, ranchers, chefs, winemakers, distillers, media, luminaries, authors, vintners, mixologists and culinary experts in an entertaining forum.
