With no traffic lights, freeways or parking meters, Trinity County is a peaceful setting for lovers of the outdoors as almost the entire county is located in Shasta-Trinity National Forest (including the Trinity Alps Wilderness in the Salmon Mountains), Six Rivers National Forest, and even a portion of the Mendocino National Forest. Whitewater sports, camping, fishing and hiking are all popular activities in Trinity County. Clair Engle Lake in the Whiskytown-Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area is tops for fishing and boating. The Natural Bridge of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest is a sight to see, with a natural limestone arch that spans 200 feet. Museums and art centers in the area also showcase local arts and the history of artisans from the area.
