Flowers grown in the fields of Carpinteria provide income to a city which reports its economy is based on flowers, technology and tourism.  Stroll down Linden Avenue, the main street of town, to observe California poppies and irises growing in fields and flower boxes. Visit the colorful flower and gift shop, Hollyhock Gardens to saturate your senses with color.

Carpenteria's cute, little downtown has restaurants and shops with sunbathing, surfing and gift items.  The atmosphere is very, beach casual. Take your time and relax.

While in Carpinteria, you can spend a morning shopping and an afternoon at the beach. Rent a bicycle and cruise down the streets for some exercise. Explore historic sites such as Californiaa's first branch library on  Linden Avenue which opened on November 8, 1910. You'll find a marker on the spot where the library once stood.
