Mammoth  Mountain Winters Offer Snow and Sparkling Lights - Wow!

Who says we don't get four seasons at While Southern California beaches remain sunny and warm all year long, it gets a little boring, honestly. The popular winter getaway for us city folks who don't even own a coat is Mammoth Lakes. Once you visit, you'll be forever changed.

If you think youu're going to plan a winter holiday on a whim, sometimes that works. But don't always count on finding a hotel room or cabin for your family come Thanksgiving  through Christmas and New Year's Eve. The holiday traditions that families celebrate getting away from the beaches and flatlands and heading to the California mountains are cherished by hundreds of thousands of vacationers who need escapes from school, jobs and the beach. But when you add a freshly-fallen snow and the college students on winter break, the stakes are high in getting the hotel rooms for your winter holiday getaway.

In fact, we're sitting here in the sunshine at the beach, thinking about winter, wondering when cool weather will come and bring relief. So we began searching for hotels to escape to in Mammoth for a family winter holiday. Well, guess what? There aren't many rooms left and it's months away from November & December. Village at Mammoth Mountain actually required a 5 day booking on their website for a Christmas stay, and they charged $449/night on a one room studio condo. Holidays and weekends command the greatest prices and the costs drop significantly as you search for rooms mid-week not so close to the nation's major holiday celebrations.
