Mariposa County is billed as the "Home of Yosemite," an honor tourists from around the globe (and even Californians) may not fully  recognize. Once the largest county in the state, Mariposa's holdings included parts of Los Angeles. Today, the region of humble beginnings that boasts not a single stop light and no incorporated cities within its bounds, hosts over 3 million visitors annually.
