BIG BEAR LAKE - Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest. 38th Annual Big Bear Lake Oktoberfest Schedule of Events includes Log Sawing & Stein Holding Contests - held several times throughout the day. Children's contests held Sundays at approximately 3:00 p.m.; Outside Budenstrasse Game Booths, Exhibitors, Petting Zoo Saturdays from 12:00 Noon - 5:00 p.m.  Price: $5 - 10 approx. CLOVIS - Red Hot and Real - Annual event with hot air balloon rides, barbeque championship, car show and family carnival. Location: Rodeo Grounds, Clovis, CA. Time: begins at 7 a.m. Call: (559) 299-7363.

CYPRESS - Cypress Community Service Day. Cypress Church will be sponsor a BBQ picnic at Evergreen Park. The BBQ is part of "Cypress Community Service Day" and the public is invited. There will be Southern style pork BBQ with trimmings prepared by the Knights of the Holy Grill as well as live music and games for the entire family. Location: 9300 Moody, Cypress, CA. HUNTINGTON BEACH - Oktoberfest & Kinderfest event includes a German/carnival atmosphere with huge crowds, dancing, drinking and food, plus a live German band. For kids there's a bouncy house, outdoor fun and indoor dancing.  Time: 2:30 p.m.  - 7:30 p.m. Cost: $5.

ORANGE - Pumpkin Patch. One of Orange County, California's largest and most fun pumpkin patch events happens each year at Irvine Regional Park in the foothills of Orange. A huge pumpkin patch and train ride are part of the fun in this 3rd annual event that includes train rides, hay rides, a haunted house, pony rides, thousands of pumpkins and more. Admission into the pumpkin patch is FREE. Prices for other activities vary. Location: Irvine Regional Park, 1 Irvine Park Rd., Orange, CA. Cars are charged $3 parking.

NEWPORT BEACH - Taste of Newport. 2008 Taste of Newport sponsored by the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce is now in its 20th year. Location: Newport Center Drive, Fashion Island, Pacific Coast Highway @ Jamboree, Newport Beach, CA.  Time: Sunday Sept. 21, Noon - 8 p.m. Cost is around $50 (tba). Free and Valet Parking. POMONA - Los Angeles County Fair. Full of city-fied fun. Horseracing, too. (Mariachi USA Fiesta at 8 p.m., Ticket: $18.50 - 75).  Location: Fairplex at Pomona Fairgrounds. Open daily, runs through September 28, 2008.

SOLVANG - Solvang Danish Days. 72nd Annual Event Features Music, Folk Dancing, Authentic Foods, Living History And 3 Parades. Location: Village Square and Solvang Park in Solvang, CA. Call: (805) 686-9386

SONORA - Certified Farmer's Market. Includes John Watson as featured entertainment. Fresh produce, crafts and live entertainment. Location: Theall and Stewart St., Sonora, CA. Time: 7:30 - 11:30 a.m. Call: (209) 532-7735.

YOUNTVILLE - Artist Patrick O'Rourke. Gallery 1870 will be hosting the local romantic realist artist Patrick O’Rourke. Patrick uses acrylic to portray the distinct colors of the land from the early morning mist on the vines in springtime, to the golden leaves of harvest. Patrick is one Gallery 1870’s most versatile artists from landscapes, to still-lifes, airbrushed perfection to textured 3-dimensional masterpieces.  Refreshments will be served. YUBA CITY - Yuba City Fall Home, Garden and Recreation Show. In an area that continues to grow, nothing is better for exhibitors than to have the opportunity to talk with potential customers who are looking to prepare their homes and gardens for the upcoming holiday season and winter weather. The Yuba-Sutter area is one of the fastest growing areas in the country and this show is one of the fastest growing shows in N. Cal.
