MAMMOTH LAKES - 2nd Annual Mammoth Lakes Film Festival. The Mammoth Film Festival takes place annually in Mammoth Lakes California. 11 days of film screenings, parties and music at multiple venues in the beautiful Eastern Sierra. (Last year's event was hosted he festival will primarily screen films at the Forest Ranger Auditorium at the Visitors Center on Hwy 203 and in the Village. Over 60 films will be screened at this second annual event. Categories include: documentary; foreign film; comedy/musical; and drama. Event runs November 13 – 23, 2008. Cost: $25 pass. NEWPORT BEACH - Tree Lighting Ceremony. Fashion Island's 115 ft. Christmas tree is illuminated with over 17,000 lights and ornaments. Enjoy a live performance and the arrival of Santa! PLEASANTON - Downtown Pleasanton's Magical Holiday Evening. Holiday festivities at downtown shops, restaurants and businesses include decorations, twinkling lights, banners, beautiful window displays and holiday treats. Visits with Santa and encounters with Elves who hand out purple candy canes and peppermint lollipops;  carolers, choruses, bell ringers, flutes; fire juggling acrobat Dana Smith and his dog Lacey; balloon sculptors; face painters; and Crackers the Clown will all be on hand to celebrate the magic of the season.  Time: 6 to 9 p.m. Cost: Free. SACRAMENTO - Harvest Festival. 36th annual event features over 24,000 one-of-a-kind arts and crafts, gourmet foods with free samples and musical entertainment. Artist quality glass art, jewelry, ceramics and gifts sold at this holiday event. Time: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cost: $9 Adult; $7 Senior 62+; $4 Youth 13-17; Free 12 and under when accompanied by an adult. One ticket is good for all three days.
