ANGELS CAMP - Jumping Frog Jubilee and Calaveras County Fair. A popular contest based on Samuel  Clemens’ trips to the Gold Country region that inspired his published work, “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County”, about Jim Smiley and his frog Dan’l Webster. Event includes a carnival, vendors, games, entertainment and the famous Jumping Frog contest. Cost: $9/adult; $5/child daily. Location: Fairgrounds along Highway 49 between Angels Camp and Sonora.


FULLERTON - Fullerton Downtown Farmers Market. The Market offers farm fresh produce, food, kids activities (nominal fee), live entertainment (6:30-8:30 pm), and a beer & wine garden. Event cost is free. Runs every Thursday through October 16, 2008. Time: 4 to 8:30 p.m. Location: 121 E. Wilshire Ave. , Fullerton , Ca 92832 (between Harbor Blvd & Pomona Ave.)

NEWPORT BEACH - Tacos & Tequila. It's a chance to explore the 5 Diamond cuisine of famed Chef Bill Bracken. Location: The Island Hotel, Palm Terrace Lounge, 690 Newport Center Drive, Newport Beach, CA 92660. Call: 949-760-4920. Cost: $20 approx.


RANCHO SANTA FE -  'Art Expression' reception. Art Guild artists free rein to express themselves in multi media art show. Reception time: 5-7 p.m. Time: Gallery open Tuesday through Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday 11a.m. to 2p.m. Location:  Rancho Santa Fe Art Guild, 6004 Paseo Delicias, Rancho Santa Fe, CA 92067.
