COSTA MESA - Orange County Fair Say Cheese. Enjoy one of the most popular urban fairs in the U.S. Pig races are an annual treat, carnival rides, food, fun, and loads of live entertainment and fun for the entire family.  Runs through Aug. 3, 2008 (closed Mondays).  Tickets: $5 - 10, kids under free 5 free. FORTUNA - Fortuna Rodeo. Events include rodeo stunts, barbecue and dance, a parade, games, street dancing and carnival. The community turns out all week to join in the festivities. fortunarodeo.com

HUNTINGTON BEACH - US OPEN of Surfing and Beach Games. A festive, youthful atmosphere greets vacationers to this annual outdoor extravaganza of sports such as surfing, skateboard, bmx, fmx and interactive village games for guests. Cost: Free admission. LAGUNA BEACH - Art-A-Fair festival. 42nd annual art event located in a beautiful garden setting with 125 artists, plus live entertainment, fine food, demonstrations and workshops. This year's theme is "Venetian Carnival."  The event runs through Aug. 31. Location: 777 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach, Calif. POWAY - Virtual Strangers Bluegrass. Target Summer Concert in the Park Series is sponsored by the City of Poway, Target Stores, and Marrokal Construction.  Bring a blanket or chair, and a picnic dinner, and head out to Old Poway Park for some great summer fun. WOODSIDE - Djerassi Sculpture Tour - See the famous, yet hidden works of outstanding artists who create sculptures made in a variety of materials for outdoor placement. Located in the redwood forests of the Santa Cruz Mountains on a private 580-acre ranch original outdoor art sculptures are on view in this free tour open to the public by reservation. Tours are held rain or shine and once a tour begins attendees must stay with the group and remain for the duration of the tour. Each 2-mile Tour lasts approximately 2 1/2 hours and includes approximately 15 sculptures. Guests should bring drinking water and wear multiple layers of clothing and sturdy walking shoes. The tour is strenuous--trails have steep uphill and downhill hiking, totaling approximately 300 feet of elevation. No picnic facilities are available for the two-mile tours and the Artists’ Barn is not included. Registered guests receive additional instructions and a map to the property in advance of their scheduled tour. No pets are allowed. Two-Mile Tours (free).  All tours begin promptly at 10 a.m.  but participants must arrive by 9:45 a.m. at the entrance gate to the Program’s SMIP Ranch on Bear Gulch Road West.  Registration for Two-Mile Tours held between July and October begins on June 3, 2008.
