DEL MAR - San Diego County Fair - Summer of Sports is the theme for the fifth largest fair in North America.  The San Diego County Fair features the largest midway in the region and top-name performing artists on the grandstand stage, while maintaining its traditional county fair attractions including: Livestock, Home & Hobby, Woodworking, an award-winning Flower Show, great rides and a variety of food and commercial concessions. "Summer of Sports" will celebrate a wide variety of sports at all levels, from youth to professional. Fair runs through July 6, 2008.  Location: 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd., Del Mar, California.


FALLBROOK - International Gourd Art Festival - World class gourd artists compete for prizes in this contest and festival that celebrates the farm, music, food, and beautiful gourds.


MILL VALLEY - Mill Valley Wine & Gourmet Food Tasting - Annual Marin County food event set in the redwoods, along with 70 winemakers. Time: 1 to 4 p.m. Location: Downtown Plaza, Throckmorton and Miller Ave., Mill Valley, CA. Call: (415) 388-9700.

PETALUMA - 2008 Sonoma-Marin Fair. Sustainable Agriculture Showcase, World’s Ugliest Dog Contest and Lucha Libre wrestling, wine garden, musical acts and Destruction Derby are some of this fair's top draws. There was even scandal when someone tried to rig the online voting results of the Ugliest Dog contest. This year should be equally intriguing, and exciting. PLYMOUTH - Daylily Days - Celebrate a flower that's known as one of the easiest plants to grow, with food, music, cooking and planting demonstrations, informational booths, idea gardens, and more. POWAY - Beatles Tribute Band. Target Summer Concert in the Park Series is sponsored by the City of Poway, Target Stores, and Marrokal Construction.  Bring a blanket or chair, and a picnic dinner, and head out to Lake Poway and Old Poway Park for some great summer fun. STOCKTON - San Joaquin Fair.  The annual event will include games, livestock, produce, concerts, entertainment , contests, food vendors, a carnival and much more. TUOLUMNE -  Tuolumne Lumber Jubilee. A carnival, tug of war, and Bull of the Woods contest in which two contestants battle each other to stay on a log, crafts fair and pro logging show (Sunday) with lumberjack activities such as axe-throwing and bucking.
