AUBURN - PRCA Pro Rodeo Begins at 2 p.m. Each day at 11 a.m. guests can enter the Trading Post with food, vendors and entertainment at 11 a.m. Admission to this portion of the event is free admission. At 1 p.m. you need to get your tickets out for Mutton Bustin'. Then at 2 p.m. the PRCA Pro-Rodeo in the Rodeo Arena requires a ticket, as well. Exciting events at this annual Auburn gold country favorite include Bull Riding, Bareback & Saddle Bronc Riding, Team Roping, Steer Wrestling, Tie Down Roping, Barrel Races, California Cowgirls, Budweiser Clydesdales and the crowning of Miss Auburn Stampede and Miss Jr. Stampede after Saturday's performance. Pistol Pete's Rodeo Dance will be held on Saturday night at 9 a.m.  Live music with a rocking band is an affordable event for 21+ with cover charge only 5 bucks.  140 Harrison Ave., Auburn.  On Sunday at 11 a.m., take time to worship at the Cowboy Church held in the Arena grandstands at no charge. CLEAR LAKE - Heron Festival - Pontoon boat tours, birding and nature walks, exhibits, and children's activities. Pontoon boat excursions are between 8 am and 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday. COACHELLA - Coachella 2008. Three day concert in Coachella featuring rock, punk and indie. Roger Waters, My Morning Jacket, Duffy, Booka Shade, Dimitri from Paris, the Field, Sons & Daughters, Electric Touch, Austin TV, Shout out Louds, Stars, Autolux, Metric, Sean Penn, Plasticines, Black Mountain, Justice, and more! Time: 12:30 p.m. - Midnight. Location: Empire Polo Field, 81-800 Avenue 51, Indio, CA. Cost: 3-Day pass: $269. + $3 charity + applicable service fees.

CORONA - Cutthroats of Corona 2008.  A Golden Age Pyrate Festival is 4th annual event.  Pirates Are Pirates from all over the Gold Coast will invade Crossroads Riverview Park. Rogue’s Cove from Las Vegas our resident Pirate group at Corona will host the event in conjunction with “No Quarter Given” a Riverside pirate publication. The Fair will cover the time period from 1660 to 1720 with Buccaneers and the Golden Age of Pirates.  There will be three stages of Pirate entertainment, cannon demonstrations, pirate grub and grog, treasure hunts, mock wife auctions, and plenty of pirate booty to purchase. LAKESIDE - Lakeside Rodeo. 44th Annual event includes Bareback Bronc, Barrel Racing, Bull Riding, Calf Roping, Saddle Bronc, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping. Time: 2 p.m. Location: 12584 Mapleview St., Lakeside, CA. Cost: $10 -15. Call: (619) 561-4331.

OAKLAND - Mingus Big Band. The all-star Mingus Big Band explores and celebrates the musical legacy of its namesake, composer/bassist Charles Mingus, who died in 1979. Their performance at Yoshi’s coincides with Mingus’s 86th birthday (b. April 22, 1922). Time & price: 8pm $24; 10pm $16. PETALUMA - Great Petaluma Chili Cook-off, Salsa, and Beer Tasting. 40 chili / salsa teams and 15 breweries compete, with the public attending and sampling the recipes. A silent auction will be included. Time: 1–5 p.m. Cost: $25 chili and salsa tasting; $35 chili, salsa, and beer tasting; child $10.

ROSEVILLE - Maidu Leafing Out of Spring Celebration and California Indian Craft Fair. The 7th Annual event showcases California Indian dance groups, Native Skills demonstrations, hands on activities for children and adults with an opening blessing, flute music, honoring of elders and acknowledgement of children. Tours through the Historic Site and a California Indian Craft Fair are highlights of this event honoring Native Americans and their customs.  Indian tacos and other foods and drinks will be available for sale. STOCKTON - Asparagus Festival. Held annually in downtown Stockton, this tasty food is celebrated in recipes, contests, and in games and events. Entertainment daily makes this a great family fun event. Featured at this year's event is Tyson, the Skateboard dog. Location: Downtown Stockton. SUNOL - Toast of Spring on the Wildflower Train. Livermore Valley vintners host wine tasting to during a one hour excursion filled with views of California poppies, lupin and mustard wildflowers seen from a vintage train ride through Niles Canyon. Board at the old Sunol depot and travel part of the historic route of the first transcontinental railroad. The one-hour round-trip excursion is about 14 miles.
