Featured Event Toyota Grand Prix Long Beach  Runs Friday April 18 - Sunday April 20, 2008




LONG BEACH - Long Beach Grand Prix offers a tradition of great car racing. The downtown streets of Long Beach are closed with a festive atmosphere. The roar of engines can be heard as Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race; American Le Mans Series Race; Imperial Capital Bank Atlantic Championship Race; EZ Lube Team Drift Challenge and the  Annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach (Champ Car Race) bring three days of thrills. Things to see and do include celebrity and race champ autograph signings, Long Beach Convention Center family lifestyle expo with Skateboard and BMX, bands, food, entertainment and endless fun. Location: Downtown Long Beach near Aquarium of the Pacific and Long Beach Convention Center (race course goes throughout downtown streets, that will be closed.) Prices for event range from a $20/day ticket to special club seating and events with the top package costing around $800 for the Shoreline Pit Lane Club.

LANCASTER - California Poppy Festival. LEMOORE -  Central Valley Pizza Festival. 8th annual pizza fest has a home where the world's largest mozzarella cheese producing company, Leprino Foods of Lemoore exists. This is the epicenter of culinary freshness with its abundance of pizza produce grown locally. Cheese, olives, garlic, tomatoes and beef all hail from Lemoore. LONG BEACH - Toyota Grand Prix Long Beach. Celebrity Racing, Le Mans and Champ Car Racing hits the streets of Long Beach for three days of excitement. Runs through Sunday, April 20.


LONG BEACH - "Tecate Rock and Roar" Pennywise Concert.  Tecate Light presents Pennywise Concert at Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. California punk rock band, Pennywise will bring some roaring sounds to this already exciting annual car event that hits the streets of Long Beach. SANTA BARBARA - South Coast Earth Day is dedicated to education and conservation. Sponsored by Community Environmental Council and the University of California Santa Barbara Donald Bren School for Science & Environmental Management. Location: Santa Barbara County Courthouse Sunken Gardens, Time: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.


SEAL BEACH - Ohana Day Earth Day celebration. Huntington Beach and Seal Beach Surfrider Foundation is hosting a special event that departs from the nearby beach cleanup activities. Ohana Day celebrates Planet Earth with activities to educate, yet entertain youth. Include in the event: Skateboard and BMX demonstrations; Free Surfing Lessons; Bodyboard clinic; Science for Kids; Coast Guard Helicopter fly over & drop demonstration; Raffle  and Silent Auction and free refreshments. Location: Seal Beach Pier at Ocean Ave. intersection of Main Street in Seal Beach, California. Cost: Free admission. Time: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.


SUNOL - Toast of Spring on the Wildflower Train. Livermore Valley vintners host wine tasting to during a one hour excursion filled with views of California poppies, lupin and mustard wildflowers seen from a vintage train ride through Niles Canyon. Board at the old Sunol depot and travel part of the historic route of the first transcontinental railroad. The one-hour round-trip excursion is about 14 miles. VACAVILLE - Medieval Fantasy Festival - Medieval Fantasy Festival offers entertainment and fun such as Pumpkin Chucking with catapults. This Ratapult will have several divisions so that all can have their chance at flinging artificial rats. Creative folks may design and make fantastic costumes for their puppet rat. These have two chances to win, first the rat costume contest and second the best distance launch on the festival catapult or trebuchet. If you don’t have the time to sew up costumes, enter the distance launch part. Little kids will enjoy hurling rubber squeaky rats. Longest distance for each age group wins a prize. All are welcome to walk in the Pied Piper Parade. For more information on all division of the Ratapult,  and the annual Medieval event with booths, food, entertainment and costumes, entries to Ratapult will be available during the two day  festival.
