CALIFORNIA - Grunion Run in Southern California. Fishing license required for 16 and older. Best beaches span from San Diego to Santa Barbara. Approx. time for Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro. See link for other guidelines and beach times  9:40 -11:40 p.m.

CAPITOLA - Begonia Festival. Sand Sculpture Contest 8:30 to Noon at Capitola Beach. Trophy judging will be held at 12 PM. Budding Artists Event 9:00 to Noon at the Esplanade View the work of local student artists! Float Construction Viewing 4 PM - 10 PM Stroll along the banks of Soquel Creek and watch as the floats begin to take shape. Concert in the Park 4 PM - 6 PM - The Silicon Valley Houserockers live at the beach in Esplanade Park. "Capitola Goes To The Movies" begins at Dusk on the Beach with Steven Speilberg's Hook starring Robin Willams and Dustin Hoffman. Bring the family, friends, flashlights, low-back beach chairs, blankets and warm clothes just in case it’s a cool night. Seating begins: 6:30 p.m. Movie starts: 7:30 p.m. Free popcorn from 7 to 7:30.

DANA POINT - Live Music Harbor Cruise. Dana Wharf Sportfishing in Dana Point offers a relaxing, entertaining Evening Live Music Cruise aboard the 95-foot Dana Pride which has upper deck seating as well as inside seating in it's large galley, making it one of the most comfortable rides on the water. The boat also features a full bar serving wine, beer (domestic and imported), and mixed drinks. Time: 7:30 - 9 p.m. $25/ per person. Last cruise is September 13. DUNSMUIR - Mossbrae Music Festival. Botanical Gardens Stage in Dunsmuir City Park, Dunsmuir, CA. Festival begins at 2:30 pm. All-ages. $15 in advance or $20 day of concert. $10 ages 5-17.

HUNTINGTON BEACH - The Eliminators Band. Returning to Bella Terra after their concert launch of the mall, enjoy three hours of reverb drenched surf instrumentals as only The Eliminators can play them. This is in the amphitheater between Huntington Surf & Sport & cinema. Show is from 6 PM - 9 p.m. Location: 7777 Edinger Ave, Huntington Beach, California. Cost: Free.

HUNTINGTON BEACH - Civil War Re-enactment and Encampment. The public is invited to enjoy the days gone by in the living history show in Huntington Central Park complete with Abe Lincoln. Live canon battles, camps, actors in costume and food vendors. Schedule: Saturday, Sept. 1 - 10 a.m. opens, 1:30 p.m. battle; living history weapons demo at 2:30 p.m., final battle at 4 p.m., twilight concert to follow.  Sawdust Festival. Sawdust Art Festival features over 175 artists and creators with original, handcrafted gift items that include: hand blown glass, ceramics, clothing, ornaments, jewelry, painting, sculpture and so much more. LONG BEACH -  Chopperfest. A celebration of motorcycles and motorcycle riding in America, the event features music, food, comedians, new and custom bikes, live rock bands and more. LONG BEACH - Long Beach Blues Festival. The 2008 Long Beach Blues Festival features blues, soul singers, Orleans legends and Little Richard. Location: Athletic Field of Cal State University Long Beach, 1250 Bellflower Blvd., Long Beach, CA 90840. Hours: 10:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. Cost: approx. $50/day; $80/2 day pass.

LOS ANGELES - African Marketplace & Cultural Faire. Events include jazz, r&b and top music concert acts, literary presentations, vendors selling unique gifts and foods, and an entire fun zone for kids. The event also runs on August 31 and September 1. MAMMOTH LAKES - Annual Labor Day Festival of the Arts at Mammoth Lakes presented by by Mono Council for the Arts  More than 100 fine artists and contemporary crafts people gather in scenic outdoors for event that offers family fun, food and live entertainment, Times: from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday. SAUSALITO - Sausalito Art Festival. Sausalito Art Festival, America's #1 Outdoor Fine Art Festival, launches its 55th annual event over the Labor Day weekend with artists from around the world at Marinship Park on Sausalito's picturesque waterfront. YOUNTVILLE - Artist Leon Roullette. Gallery 1870 will be hosting  will be hosting a show for Leon Roulette. Roulette is renowned for his Plein Air style. His Tuscan landscapes, mesmerizing florals, and warm color palette, captures the essence of romantic indulgence. Roulettes work is reminiscent of the romantic landscape painters of the 18th and 19th Century. Come meet artist Leon Roulette and uncover the mystic intimacy of his paintings.
