International Distance  OR  US Distance to major California cities
lax Los Angeles International Airport is the third busiest airport in the world, just under Atlanta and Chicago. It offers the most flights to Southern California of any of the local airports. The domed building pictured above has is a futuristic restaurant which offers views of "LAX" flights.
San Francisco Airport will get you to one of your favorite destinations. While it is most convenient, it is also the most "fogged in" airport on the coast.  As an alternative, you can fly into San Jose, approximately 30 miles away.

If your destination is Long Beach, Orange County or Burbank, national airports serve those cities, as well. You can, however, take an airport shuttle from Los Angeles International to any of the Southern California locations. If you are heading for Disneyland, there is a special Disneyland bus which will take you right to the front door of the Disneyland Hotel..

John Wayne Airport in Orange County is named after a western actor who lived in Newport Beach. A huge statue on the ground floor commemorates his career.  Located on the lower level in the center of the terminal. To commemorate the Airport’s namesake, the John Wayne Associates commissioned sculptor Robert Summers to create a bronze statue of "the Duke." The nine-foot statue, created at the Hoka Hey Foundry in Dublin, Texas was dedicated to the County on November 4, 1982.  In March 1990, the statue was refinished and restored for its current home in the Thomas F. Riley Terminal.
The airport is located approximately 15 minutes from the beach cities and   25 minutes from Disneyland. It is a convenient airport to fly into when going to Disneyland or visiting friends and relatives in Orange County. Locals would much rather drive to John Wayne Airport to pick you up than drive to LAX.
