Sept. 1 - 6, 2010

Monterey County Fair is held annually at the Monterey County Fairgrounds. Held annually in August for approx. 5 days, the event features livestock, petting zoos, carnival rides, agriculture contests and awards and live entertainment.

Monterey, California - Monterey County Fairgrounds are located in Monterey. Surrounded by oak-studded hills, the 22-acre fairground offers events space, the annual fair, and horse racing.

Known for its Monterey Jazz Concerts, the fairgrounds, itself, has hosted musicians Duke Ellington, Billy Dean, Carlos Santana, Dave Brubeck, Sarah Vaughn and many more in its long and glorious operations since 1935.

Reaching record crowds in 2007, the fair offered senior and military days, plus a popular pet contest.

Live bands, cultural entertainment and a variety of things to do for all ages make the fair one of the most popular and affordable forms of entertainment available. Look for the Monterey County Fair to return each year at the same place and around the same time.

Getting there: Casa Verde exit off Highway 1..go three blocks to fairground entrance.

Tickets: Sold at the fair, the prices range for free for kids under 5 years to under $10 for full admission price. Armbands are sold for unlimited rides--they cost more.
