California Beach Close Vacations in California Cities and Locations Close to Beaches

California beaches aren't just about beach cities for beach vacations. By planning your trip to a beach-close hotel in a city near the beach you can save a few bucks and gain easy access to the coast, the major cities, and major attractions such as Universal Studios Hollywood which has no beach on site. If you can settle for a beach destination vacation based on close proximity to a beach, there are many options that will allow you savings.

The list we're creating offer some options in re-thinking your beach strategy so that you can sleep at a hotel with all the amenities and its very own culture near a beach, but access the experience of visiting the sunshine, sand and seeing the famous bikinis beauties and svelte like surfers in their body suits who glide easily and with purpose, carving their paths through California's waves in the Pacific Ocean.  Among our favorite hidden gems near beaches are Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo on the Central Coast, San Jose in San Francisco Bay area, and in Southern California we like cities such as Irvine, Costa Mesa, Westminster, Los Angeles, Hollywood and Santa Ana. In San Diego and Riverside Counties you'll find some wonderful vacations in Temecula, Palm Desert and Escondido, all within a reasonable drive of a beach.

California Beach Vacations in Cities Near the Beach

Anaheim beaches and beach hotels are a 25-30 minute drive from Disneyland minimum. But, we put it into perspective that most travelers want to see and sometimes stay at the beach when visiting Disneyland. With that in mind, you can be assured that an Anaheim beach vacation is quite do-able.

Buena Park beach experiences include Soak City USA and Huntington Beach, just down the street a few miles on Beach Blvd. Affordable hotels near the freeways accessing Disneyland in Anaheim and Universal Studios Hollywood bring tourists welcomed relief with affordable hotels.

Costa mesa beach vacations -- If there's a spot that got short-changed by not getting a beach, Costa Mesa could well be the one. It almost touches the beach, it overlooks the beach, and does everything but cry out beach in its name. But technically there's no beach on site. So check this shopping destination out as the affordable beach option up the hill from Newport Beach and Huntington Beach.

Hollywood beach vacations offer the time honored tradition of taking the Hollywood tours, then taking a dip and dive in the Pacific Ocean...and maybe doing it all in one day.

Irvine beaches are a misnomer. Like all clever marketers, Irvine (which ranks as one of the smartest cities in the US), thought it was a good idea to sell the beach as part of its attractions and reasons for filling hotel rooms near a business center during the slow weekends when the biz travelers go home. Good move! Newport Beach and its sandy coves are both down the road.

Stanton beach vacations are completely overlooked. People think of Stanton as the cheap choice for hotels near Knott's Berry Farm, Pirates Dinner Adventure and Medieval Times. But the beaches of Huntington Beach and Newport Beach are a straight drive down Beach Blvd. to the ocean at Pacific Coast Highway (turn left for Newport Beach, or go straight into the parking lots at Huntington Beach.

Westminster beach vacations offer beaches in nearby Huntington Beach, Seal Beach and Sunset Beach.
