Yosemite National Park in the Sierra Nevada was set aside as a
national park in 1890. The park includes spectacular mountains,
valleys, reflecting lakes, waterfalls, meadows, and forests
that include groves of giant sequoias, the world's largest living
things. The park is one of the busiest in the summer and does quite
well in the winter months, too. There's nothing more special than
packing your boots and gloves and heading for the mountains for a
winter vacation that's incredibly popular with families from all
countries. People around the globe have heard of Yosemite and
seen the famous black and white photographs taken by Ansel Adams,
who used to be a Yosemite National Park regular, and helped operated
programs such as the annual Bracebridge Dinner.
When
you arrive in the national park, there are several options for
dining and hotels, and you'll discover an incredible staff of
Europeans and international travelers working seasonally there for
an opportunity to enjoy nature's finest. Bears roam around the
woods and lodgings, looking for food, and the deer practically walk
up to you. If anyone's going to be scared, it would be the human.
Summers are warm (can be even downright hot), and packed in the
Yosemite Valley where you'll find the hotels and shops. But when
autumn and winter comes along, there is snow and rain, mixed with
sunshine, fog and a host of rapidly changing weather conditions.

Wawona's history center, Mariposa Grove with its hundreds of ancient
giant sequoias, Glacier Point's spectacular Yosemite Valley
views, Tuolumne Meadows with its subalpine meadow surrounded by
mountain peaks and Hetch Hetchy, a reservoir in a valley are all
attractions you will not want to miss on your visit to Yosemite
National Park.
Yosemite National Park should be on your A list of attractions that
you must see when visiting California. We love beaches and wouldn't
want to pick just one to visit, but Yosemite has a name and
reputation that sets it apart from other state and national parks.
Concessions are operated by Delaware North, which means there's a
level of quality that you won't normally find in this rare type of
vacation getaway, the mountain escape.
