Lynne
Boyer, two-time world surfing champ, won
her titles in 1978 and 1979. It was the
first time any woman had won the
championship twice. Recognized for her
surfing career and paving the way for
other girls and women, Lynne was
recognized as an honoree into the
Surfing Walk of Fame in Huntington
Beach, Calif. Boyer didn't prepare a
speech, as you'll hear her say in the
video, but she did say that surfing has
come a long way since the days she
competed and won her world titles.
Living in Hawaii, Boyer spoke about the
early days of the North Shore. Keep on
surfing, she told the audience that
gathered on the sidewalk and street of
downtown Huntington Beach to watch the
surf inductions of four recipients that
were honored with engraved granite tiles
in the sidewalk next to Jack's
Surfboards on the corner of Main and
Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington
Beach. After her surfing career, Boyer
began painting ocean, beaches and nature
scenes from Hawaii, and is now
recognized for her quality work that she
sells on the internet (lynneboyer.com)
