Video of the San Clemente sunset over the pier
restaurant, Fishermans Restaurant and Bar shows people sipping cocktails and
beer, enjoying the evening.
San Clemente, Calif.
-- This is the beach town that dreams are made of. In the video you'll see the
camera pan from a margarita with no ice and rock salt on the rim, to the
next deck level just one step down (whoever designed San Clemente pier dining
was pretty smart.) Watching the diners and socializers below, you can see them
enjoy the orange glow of the sun...and some surfers in the Pacific Ocean that
seems to be just beyond the pier pilings.
The
laid back city where every other car has a surfboard mounted on top,
and every menu has a surfer or surfboard on it is Orange County's
true surfing Mecca. That's why folks flock as sunset to the San
Clemente Pier to watch the surfers smoothly glide on the golden
waves. But on one evening when the sky was pale orange, a boy no
more than 4 years old stubbornly learned how to surf, as those atop
the pier watched.
The
Fishermans Restaurant & Bar at San Clemente, California, is the
unpretentious place to go for an evening cocktail or beer,
accompanied by something off the Oyster Bar Menu, or with the daily
sunset specials. On the night I visited it was $5.50 margaritas and
$3 plates of Mexican food. You'll not find a better place to take a
date, to meet a friend after work, or even bring the family for a
cheap dinner.
Videos of San Clemente may help capture the romance the earlier
settlers knew. South Orange County leaves the flatlands the northern
coast is known for, and at Corona del Mar, begins to transition into
hilly embankments and mountains that drop to the ocean. San
Clemente is set mostly on hills and at the base is the beach, the
pier and the Amtrak train stops.
It
takes approx. 30 to 40 minutes to get from north Orange County to
south on a good day. But wherever you are coming from, it's
well worth the trip to take a drive to the San Clemente pier for
sunset. The small town atmosphere helps you escape the hustle
of Newport Beach, the crowds of PCH, and the trappings we can live
without such as rich cars and bars. Simple is better.
