Ventura Vacation Hotels are usually available at reasonable
prices for a family vacation trip or romantic couples escape to
this gem of the California coast.
For making your Ventura travel
plans, we show a photo above of that's one of the most
recognized images of Ventura. It is a statue of Father Junipero
Serra standing tall at the Ventura Courthouse. With a mission
bell near him, he looks over the lands that slope gently to the
sea, keeping a watchful eye on this fortunate place (Ventura or
San Buenaventura means good fortune). As you drive
into Ventura from Highway 101, the scenic highway between Los
Angeles and Northern California, be sure to stop here and even
stay the night.
Crowne Plaza Hotel
at Ventura Beach and Pier (see
photos) is located at 450 East Harbor Boulevard,
Ventura, California 93001. We can't say enough about this great
hotel so take a look at our photos or go there and check it out
yourself. Family vacations, kids vacations, corporate events and
even weddings would be delightful at the Crown Plaza, formerly a
Holiday Inn hotel.
There's are a list of
great hotels we recommend but one that's noticeable in the
picture above stands right of the street passing through the
center of the image. Formerly Holiday Inn, the new Crown Plaza
hotel has experienced a $10 million renovation, featuring
beautifully-appointed rooms and forever views. It would not be a
stretch to say that there was a time we used to stop in Ventura
to grab a bite on our trips north and we actually felt
uncomfortable with the street scene. Things change and Ventura
certainly has. Now embracing its assets that include a
rich history, beautiful beaches, an outstanding harbor and
Highway 101, Ventura has spent much time and effort to retain
the charm while inviting businesses, artists and visitors to
share in the authentic Ventura.
Not eager to tear down the
old, Ventura planners have made every effort to embrace historic
hotels, downtown brick facades, and rich wood flooring in
markets from the early 1900's that are utilized in businesses
such as gourmet restaurants, antiques, boutiques, a soda
fountain and even a micro-brewery.
For those visiting, you
may just choose a one night stay in which you'll have time to
explore. Or maybe you'll treat yourself a little more and enjoy
our favorites such as the Greek Restaurant and the Harbor and a
one-day nature trip to Channel Islands through Island Packers.
Ventura is special because the people who own and operate these
enterprises are nice folks who work hard to please the
customers. They run their businesses much like family operations
and we, the guests, become friends instead of acquaintances.
Of course you have to keep
coming back to get to know them but once you do, you'll hold a
special place in your memory bank for Ventura. It becomes an
addiction that you need satisfy by visiting time and again.
(Many Hollywood celebrities have discovered this and frequent
Ventura as a hideaway where they can enjoy themselves and have
relaxing moments away from the glitz.)
Other fantastic Ventura
Hotels that guests choose include
Four Points By Sheraton Ventura
(see review) with a harbor and marina
on site! It also features a restaurant, conference
facilities, tennis courts and unique architecture in its lobby.
Pierpont Inn
sits on a hill overlooking the ocean. It is one of the most
popular romantic getaway hotels. Its hotel history is
commemorated in the lobby where you can read about the rich past
this historic hotel has enjoyed. Flower gardens and beautiful
walkways lead to the hotel rooms and suites. (see
review)
We don't have to tell you
about affordable accommodations family travelers prefer. Those
hotels are some of the most popular rooms guests to our site
reserve. Often families are just passing through and
prefer to save their money in the area of hotel rooms to spend
elsewhere during travel on meals, amusements and attractions.
With that in mind, we don't have to tell you that places such as
Vagabond Inn offer budget stays. What may
surprise you, however, is that we pulled up a search criteria on
our reservations system for Ventura, requesting hotels under
$99. We came up with 8 hotels in the spring time offerings. The
lesson is, try that type of search on our reservations search
engine and if you can get a hotel room with more amenities and
location such as the beach, pick the higher-end one.
