New granite bathrooms, leather easy chairs and sitting areas, an on site spa, top of the line Craftsman decor and beautiful ocean and golf course views of the re-designed South Course at Torrey Pines are a few of the details youu'll notice now. With the look and feel of a lodge, the leather, dark woods and lush surroundings make this a preferred place to go when you want to escape and treat yourself or someone else to a very special night or vacation. By the way, you don't have to golf to love it here. We recommend this resort for all travelers willing to spend a bit more.

Especially relaxing are the spa treatments served just your way at The Spa at The Lodge at Torrey Pines. Designed by a Scottish architect with consultation from a feng shui expert, the 8,500 square foot facility has the philosophy that treatments are for your enjoyment. The spa integrates local forest scents and products such as sage into their line of products and treatments, explaining that there 17 types of sage nearby.

The restaurant menu at The Lodge at Torrey Pines is original and creative. We tried a duck salad for lunch and compared it to a crisp, duck salad we tried the week before at Palm 71 in Ventura. Both were delicious and very different, with this version offering rare slices of meat decorated on the plate with gourmet greens. Attention to every detail was on order with little things such as the pats of butter served at a perfect room temperature to accompany fresh bread placed individually on our plate by a bread server. Some folks were dressed to the nines, and some were like us, right off the golf course. You can also eat at the bar or order strictly burgers from the patio deck above the pool and golf course.
