Thalia Street Beach is
used almost exclusively used by locals of all ages who surf and
skim. If you are a teen, this is the place to see and be seen
among Laguna Beach beaches.
You know how to find
Thalia Street Beach. Just look for the surf shop on the corner
of Coast Highway and Thalia Street that calls itself Thalia
Street Surf Shop. Down the street next to the store is
limited parking (only a few spots) and the beach, located down a
set of stairs seen in the right photo above. Notice how
the steps kind of curve. The access to this beach and most
Laguna beaches are via steps. Some are easier to navigate than
others, but out of the 20+ beaches in Laguna Beach, you'll only
find a few with large parking lots, ramps and wheelchair,
bicycle or stroller access. At those spots you'll be most
inclined to find tourists--and moms or dads with tiny tots.

Thalia
Street Beach is one of those neighborhood gems offering many
opportunities to soak up the local culture. What you'll discover
is that although various MTV shows portray stereotypes of the
kids living in Laguna, the real scene is on the beaches such as
Thalia.
About Thalia Street Beach:
This is a surfing beach. Just look at the surfboards in the
photos above if you don't believe it. Swimmers or body
boarders need to go south of the beach (past the surf flag) at
the northern end of Anita Street beach.
Hazardous and rip conditions, especially during large surf, make
this a spot to especially be aware. The whole area is a
rock reef suited for surfing and not swimming. There are
designated areas for swimmers and the surfers. Swimmers are not
allowed in the surfing area due to hazards from skim and surf
boards.
