Surfing Beaches and Surfing Locations in California

Surfing Beaches in California run the approximate 1000 miles of coast line. Wherever there are waves, you'll find surfers who find ways to access them and ride them. In places such as Ghost Tree near Pebble Beach or Mavericks in Half Moon Bay, surfers ride the monster waves only tackled by those who've trained to handle the extreme size and strength of the monsters.  Few can actually surf in these conditions and many have been injured trying. For every day surfing that varies from flat to excellent swells cresting up to 10 or 12 feet,  surfers travel the coast to find the best waves. If you've never tried to surf, there are lessons available at many populated beach regions. Or you can begin on a body board to gain an appreciation of the feel of the ocean, then work your way into a surfing experience that often can turn the novice surfer into a surf addict.
