Surf Theatre

Productions, a company that created Surf Theatre to
commemorate and bring back the audience the loves
surfing and action water sports. Each month the
company shows screenings of surfing films at movie
theatres in regional areas along the California
coast and sometimes in Hawaii, as well.
Oftentimes the
special one-night screenings will include skate and
surf product raffles and even a surf band playing
live. It just depends on who they line up for that
night. The films presented are almost 100% indy
films made either by surfers and action sports
competitors or by filmmakers specializing in the
genre.
Stemming from a history of Surf Theatre in
Huntington Beach, California, where an actual movie
theater showed surfing films all the time (building
was torn down several decades ago), Big Red
Productions got the idea to start their own special
brand of film screenings by partnering with existing
movie theatres. Surf Theatre is a monthly event that
