You only have to catch a sunset in Sunset Beach California (see photo above) to fall in love with this beautiful community on the Southern California coast in Orange County. Once you view one of the stunning purple and pink sunsets, you'll know why they gave it that name.

Pictures above looking northwest from Sunset Beach border of Bolsa Chica State Beach, you can see the sun low in the sky, as reflected in the windows of the two and three story homes that sit on the sand overlooking the beach, Catalina Island, and San Pedro.

Sunset Beach, the 1 mile-long beachfront community with services provided through Orange County, was once a stop for the electric "red car" trains from Los Angeles. The street that runs through town still bares the name Pacific Avenue, after the Pacific Electric train. While the train no longer stops at this location, and some of the red cars were actually discarded into the Pacific Ocean, the tucked away village where no mail is delivered to homes, enjoys sandy beaches ideal for vacationing.

Surfing, volleyball nets, sunbathing, swimming and a variety of sports are enjoyed at a beach that lacks concessions and commercial development. It's an ideal spot to drop by for unobstructed views of sunsets. And, Sunset Beach is a great place to take a photo!
