Best
Sunbathing Beaches in California
Sunbathing
Beaches along the California Coast should include lots
of
sand, sunshine and swimming for a
wonderful vacation. The sunniest beaches and best
weather on the California Coast naturally occurs in the
Southern
California Beaches beginning with San Diego County. While every beach city
in California hopes to claim the title of best
sunbathing beach, the North State (Redwood Coast)
beaches really do not claim to be sunbathing beaches.
From Sonoma Coast north to the Oregon border, the beach
communities pride themselves on offering the finest
beachcombing opportunities, but not sunbathing.
What you'll find at the
southern
beaches on the Pacific Ocean are usually medium to pale
tan-colored sand, some coves, some cliffs, lots of
waves and the warmest year-round temperatures on
California's coast. Excluding the very hot Palm Desert
region where you can bake and sunbathe throughout all
seasons with no beach available, the best sunbathing to
be had is in locations such as Silver Strand, Imperial
Beach, Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Del
Mar, Carlsbad, Oceanside, San Onofre, San Clemente, Dana
Point's Doheny, Laguna Beach, Corona del Mar, Newport
Beach, Huntington Beach, Sunset Beach, Seal Beach, Long
Beach, Torrance Beach, Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach
Venice Beach, Hermosa Beach, Playa del Rey, Malibu,
Dockweiler Beach, Oxnard, Ventura, Santa Barbara,
Goleta, Carpinteria and as the temps drop a bit, the
hidden coves of Pismo Beach and Avila Beach as well as
Santa Cruz and Capitola.
California's sunbathing beach with the
cutest girls: Newport Beach.
While Del Mar in San Diego is known by
many to be the home of the trophy babes, Newport Beach
was selected as "The OC" beach for a reason--plastic
surgery. Not every beautiful girl is the product of a
laboratory, though some do get a little help. Newport
Beach on a sunny afternoon around the 4th of July really
is the icing on the cake for those hoping to catch a
glimpse of beauty and the beach.
California's healthiest sunbathing
beach: Laguna Beach. Laguna Beach was proud to
confirm in 2008 what they already knew, that the
National Resources Defense Council selected Laguna as
one of the five top rank beach destinations in 2008.
In Southern California summer water temperatures seldom peak above
70 degrees and winter temperatures usually do not drop
below 57 degrees. Air temperatures at the Southern
California beaches and beach
cities are around 76 daytime and 68 nights during
the summer months of July through October. Winter
temperatures are around 69 degrees during the day and 56
at night (these numbers are averages and don't reflect
the rare but occasional extremes of over 100 degrees or
below freezing.)
The beach scene is a mix
of ages, sizes and backgrounds but teens and students
are the most noticeable in the summer time when they
have time on their hands to go socialize and enjoy the
lifestyle Southern California has gained a reputation
for—California cool. The beaches gain that reputation as
folks from Nevada and Arizona escape the heat. You'll
also find people from around the globe visiting the
great California sunbathing beaches.
While most the public
beaches require clothing be worn, you'll often see girls
untie their bikini bra sashes to remove the tan lines
from the back. There are some
clothing optional
(nude beaches) that are mostly unofficial
neighborhood places.
