Summer at Filoli Gardens in
Woodside, California brings the fragrant
colorful tree blossoms cherry, pear,
and apple. In addition you'll discover flower
arrangements of fresh cut flowers from the
Filoli grounds gracing the tables and spaces
you'll visit on the Filoli Mansion tour. While
the gardens are not typically available for
weddings, they offer fantastic ideas for event
planners and brides to be. A visit to Filoli
Gardens is inspirational. Set to the backdrop of
hills that stretch in the distance behind the
mansion grounds, Woodside is a 654-acre estate shown in the
opening scene of a once popular TV series, Dynasty. Woodside, a
small city surrounded by forests and parks, yet
amazingly close to Silicon Valley, Stanford
University and San Francisco Airport in San
Mateo County, is open during the summer months,
offering tours to the public for a fee.
If you
are a flower lover, don't hesitate to check out
this "well worth it" side trip that's located
between San Francisco and the coast and Half
Moon Bay. When open, there's usually a flurry of
volunteers tending to many tasks such as upkeep
of the gardens, planting flowers, offering
docent-led tours and selling gifts in the
on-site store. Cards, souvenirs and items
about flowers or with flower designs can often
be found there.
Named Filoli, to Fight, to Love, to Live,
William Bourne built the country retreat
completed in 1917.
