About
Speedcubing
Speedcubing
uses the puzzle game invented in 1974 by Hungarian professor of architecture
Ernő Rubik.
The Rubik's Cube took the world by storm and the first competition was held
in 1982 in Budapest. Solving the puzzle of a colorful cube, the game player
must strategically make a series of manipulations to create the cube's faces
being one single, solid color. Sizes of 2 to 5 inch cubes are the most
common. A top speed for solving one of the puzzles is just over 10 seconds
currently.
Speedcubing is the most prominent activity of the international Rubik's Cube
community. Members come together to hold competitions, work to develop new
solving methods, and seek to perfect their technique.
