the World Cruise Center is the largest passenger facility
on the West Coast and the fourth busiest in the nation. Built
and owned by the Port of Los Angeles, the World Cruise Center is leased
to a consortium of five cruise lines including
Carnival Cruise Line, Cunard Line, Norwegian Cruise
Line, Princess Cruises and Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.
Most cruises head for Mexico (Ensenada, Puerto Vallarta,
Acapulco, Cabo San Lucas and Mazatlan). In addition, the Port is a stop
on cruise itineraries sailing to Alaska and other world destinations. Located
at Berths 91, 92 and 93A/B, it is 18 miles from Los Angeles International
Airport (LAX) and 25 miles from downtown Los Angeles.
Cruise lines include The Holiday, operated by Carnival
Cruise Line, and the Viking Serenade, operated by Royal Caribbean Cruise
Line, offer regularly-scheduled, year-round, three-,
four- and seven-day cruises to Mexico. Carnival's Elation is also homeported
in Los Angeles, offering seven-day, round-trip
Mexican Riviera cruises year-round. Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines
also offers a seasonal seven-day cruise itinerary.
Two passenger terminals accommodate up to three full-size
