however. In the past few years the spa craze has hit the California coast in

the Surf & Sand Hotel Spa, called Aquaterra, or the Montage Resort Spa
called Spa Montage. As prices go, your night at Surf & Sand usually will
cost less.
Surf and Sand Aquaterra is a $6
million, 6,000-square-foot spa. The size is not large as the newest
spa offerings go but considering the size of the hotel, they've done very
well with their space. Seaweed Revitalizer Massage to the Sea Salt Scrub to
Le Stone Massage (your basic hot-rock rubdown)-in a setting decorated with
overstuffed chairs, bleached white oak, plantation shutters, marble
countertops and watercolor paintings decorate the small areas of this airy,
ocean-view facility. Located on the north end of the hotel, the tucked away
spa features a menu of ocean-themed treatments, massages and therapies
comprised of minerals, salts and waters that represent the local setting,
the sea. Specializing in pampering, the spa is popular for couples
treatments that book up rapidly. The spa features windows on the world

Montage Resort & Spa's Spa Montage
is a 20,000-square-foot indoor and outdoor oceanfront spa facility at
Montage Resort & Spa. It offers 21 treatment rooms, including 12 massage rooms, four facial
treatment rooms, two hydrotherapy rooms and three specialty treatment rooms
with outdoor relaxation and a plunge pool that can be used for a single or
couple's massage or hydrotherapy treatments. Separate male and female
club-style locker rooms feature a relaxation rooms, complete with fireplace,
shower, steam and sauna areas, Jacuzzi and cold plunge.
