San Luis Obispo County Museum is located in downtown San
Luis Obispo County across the street from Mission San
Luis Obispo and the San Luis Obispo Art Museum.
Situated in a
lovely red brick Carnegie building, the museum features
an interesting collection of antique household goods
found in the region, along with an entire section on the
history of the Chinese settlers who suffered
discrimination during the Gold Rush era.
From rare plates,
cups, vases bowls and serving utensils to photographs,
chairs, furniture and a variety of items showing the
settlers life, the museum is interesting and well worth
a look when shopping, dining and visiting San Luis
Obispo.
We love SLO (the
nickname for this destination), because of its history,
tree-lined streets and college influence (Cal Poly). The
city offers a very young, hip vibe with its breweries,
housing, shopping and old-time appeal, mixed with young,
artsy and intellectual bend.
While many like to
stay in hotels such as the most popular
Apple Farm on the northern edge of the city,
Vagabond Inn San Luis Obispo is affordable,
basic, and worked just fine for us on a budget trip.
There are mostly affordable chain and small hotels that
are idea for vacations and for parents and families
visiting their relatives attending college at Cal Poly.
