San Francisco Chinese New Year's
Parade is one of the largest Chinese New Year celebrations in the United
States. Bands, floats, dignitaries, Chinese dragon dancers, children in
colorful costumes and up to a million people in attendance near Union Square
make this a must-see celebration for those who love a parade.
San Francisco' Chinese New Year's
Parade traces its roots to 1860's San Francisco, a short time after the Gold
Rush in which many Chinese came to seek their fortune. The Parade and
Festival have grown to be the largest celebration of Asian culture outside
of Asia. Since 1958, the parade has been under the direction of the Chinese
Chamber of Commerce. www.chineseparade.com
