| As you stand at Avila Beach and gaze west, there is another
pier and place called San Luis Bay. Beaches, sunbathing, a public launch
ramp, day fishing trips and several restaurants where you can dine in or
take home seafood are what you'll find in the bend in the road a stone's
throw away.
On one of our visits, we noticed that Olde Port Inn on
Harford Pier was rated one of the top ten seafood restaurants in California.
A menu with over 15 varieties of seafood dishes, Butterfinger Ice Cream Pie,
hamburgers and affordable prices beginning at $5.95 make this a great choice
for ocean view dining. When we ate there, we sat a really cool table which
was sealed but had mirrors reflecting the water from the pier below so that
you could see the ocean underneath you while dining. Is than not amazing?

Sea lions love it in the bay. They
used to hang out on a ramp
leading to several boats, but have been relocated on a platform under the
pier. That's where they wait for the fisherman to come in with
their catch of the day.
When you stay at
one of the
Avila
Beach Hotels such as the San Luis Bay Inn
hotel on the hill that overlooks 3 piers, Avila, a private oil company pier
and Port San Luis Wharf, you can walk to both beaches.
