Placer County is listed as one of the fastest growing counties in the U.S. Census Bureauu's 2004 report. It grew at a rate of 23.6%, faster than any county in California! Second in California was Riverside County at 21.1% This Sacramento suburban sprawl region north and east of the Sacramento hub is seeing significant growth in cities such as Roseville and Rocklin where populations have increased significantly in several years. Large corporations are moving facilities to this region, restaurants, housing and infrastructure are all in growth mode to meet increasing demands for affordable housing in a historical region. Placer County is home to the Sierra Foothills where gold was once discovered and mined.
