Pebble Beach Golf Links
1700 17 Mile Drive, Pebble Beach, CA 93953. Call: (831) 625-8518. www.pebblebeach.com

Those who have played the public Pebble Beach Golf Links course in the gated Pebble Beach - 17 Mile Drive community (around 65,000 annually) have said it was worth the fee, be it $500 or whatever the going rate. Golfers who play daily or regularly commonly place this golf club on their list of must-do experiences not to missed during one's life time. While many share the privilege of being treated to this course play through some corporate rewards vacation getaway or retreat, those who just can't justify the fee can certainly go take a look. And even if you are not a golfer, you must be awe-inspired by the hilltop tee-offs that drop to a second tier hole perched gingerly close to the Pacific Ocean.

Carmel and Monterey offer the great golf experiences that make use of the terrain in ways that no other sport could possibly attain. Just by visiting the local golf courses of the Monterey Bay, non-golfers can "get it". The visual splendor of many course layouts bring the golf vision into focus.

Pebble Beach Golf Links is one of the best examples of this newly-gained appreciation a traveler can clutch on, with its lushest greens and fairways set to the backdrop of a misty blue sky and deep, sparkly sea.
Pebble Beach Golf Links has been ranked the No. 1 Public Course in America by Golf Digest and is the site of golf's most prestigious tournaments. Built in 1919, the course was designed by Jack Neville and Douglas Grant.  Jack Nicklaus made alterations to the course rebuilding the 4th, 5th and 7th greens prior to the 1992 U.S. Open. He also designed a replacement 5th hole in 1998.

Pebble Beach Golf Links also includes the Peter Hay 9 hole course for beginners. This par 3 course is easy to play with no water hazards and wide-open fairways.
