Thanks to one of our web guests, we
found out that the best hotel in town is right in the center of this photo
and is right on the beach. Embassy Suites is a beach resort that sits
on the sand in Oxnard and is described as the small group of pink buildings
slightly left of center, sitting on the sand. From the air, it looks like a
gem. We went exploring recently and found the resort. Wow, it is
fantastic!

Embassy Suites - Mandalay Beach is one of our
favorite coastal resort hideaways. Located on the beaches of Oxnard near
Hollywood Shores, it features an ocean view swimming pool and ocean swimming (your choice), paved
jog, ride and skate paths, beach volleyball, restaurants and boat trips
to the Channel Islands. Beautiful Spanish architecture
graces this lovely resort that blends seamlessly with the residential neighborhoods
that surround it. Walk out of your suite and sit in a lawn chair on your
deck, on the grass lawn, at the pool or in the sand. So many choices!
Mandalay Beach ocean front resort resembles the tropics
with its lush gardens, waterfalls and lagoons. Every room is a two-room
suite with two marble baths and micro-kitchen.
Guests enjoy a complimentary
full cooked-to-order breakfast and hosted evening beverages daily. On a
recent visit, our reporters dined on scrambled eggs, Spanish omelets, boiled
eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, cereal, oranges, bananas, grapefruit,
muffins, bagels, toast, hot chocolate, coffee and juice. The breakfast fit
for a king is enjoyed by professional football players, military troops,
executives and school teachers who all love this hotel and its fantastic
amenities.
Popular for weddings and events, there are
numerous meeting and conference rooms, but the resort always seems filled
with happy families who seek outdoor fun along the Pacific Ocean. The paved path for
pedestrian and bicycle use allows children and adults to ride bikes,
jog, frolic and play without the dangers of cars and motorized vehicles. At
the Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach, surfing and kayak lessons are offered on
a seasonal basis. Added to the resort amenities is a spa for guest
enjoyment, as well.
Located near a shopping mall and harbor, Oxnard
offers many restaurants and a beautiful historic district worth visiting.
Nearby Ventura features a re-vitalized downtown with numerous shops and
trendy restaurants the Hollywood stars frequent on weekend escapes. The
chain restaurants are represented here but don't miss some of the gems such
as The Greek at the Harbor. Authentic Greek food and evening entertainment
with belly dancers and dancing waiters are a bonus at this great waterside
dining establishment where it's OK to dress casual.
