Go down the stairs past houses and townhomes to the Strand where the beach and Pacific Ocean await. Parking spaces above are free so you see a huge migration of people who are willing to walk a few extra feet.  Free Beach volleyball nets are in demand. 

Summer competitions are held in Oceanside. 

Lifeguards keep watch over the pier and beach from their towers.
