Oceano, Calif.--If you've never taken a bi-plane ride, there's no better location to give one a try than in Oceano. This oceanfront city located in San Luis Obispo County near Pismo Beach has a small airport where rides are offered for a reasonable price.

The scenery is unbelievable as you soar through the blue skies above Pismo Beach, Oceano, Avila Beach and even above the Oso Flaco sand dunes. With two excursions offered or customized trips, you can see the ocean, the dunes, several piers, mountains and even cars and people below. You must be suited up with regulation gear that includes a leather jacket, safety vest, hat with headphones and goggles.  After you are briefed on flight safety, you climb aboard the small craft and sit in the front cockpit with its own rudders and control panels showing things such as the speed you are going. Similar to riding in a convertible, the top speed usually is around 80 miles per hour. The captain sits in the seat behind you. He tells you to keep your feet off the rudders. He's in charge, driving and steering the plane. 

Stunt flying excitement is also available for those who prefer more thrills. The cost of this great adventure ranges from around $79 to $129 though you can pay more and take a customized tour if you prefer.
