Nipomo is a small city growing
in leaps and bounds. Highway 101, a primary freeway for the region

Weekend travelers recognize Nipomo for its hillside swap
meet located on the west side of the freeway. Known for Black Lake

Nipomo Native Gardens, located at Camino Caballo and Pomeroy,
is a forest of native plants and trees, maintained by volunteers
from the society of the same name. Drop by the library on Teft Street to

Once a private ranch and popular stopping point along
the El Camino Real between the missions of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara,
a trademark of Nipomo is the scenic roads, lined with hundreds of blue
gum eucalyptus trees. Striking views of blue skies and green rolling hills
give the feel of rural life.
Dana Adobe on 671 Oakglen Street is the historical home of Captain Dana. He
became a Mexican citizen in 1835 and eventually received a land grant (a rancho)
of more than 37,000 acres at Nipomo, in what would later become San Luis Obispo
County. The Dana rancho extended from the Santa Maria River north to the present
Los Berros Road, and from the Santa Lucia foothills to the shores of the
Pacific. The historic landmark is operated by Dana Adobe Nipomo Amigos (DANA).
