The beach sits in a protected by
inlet to the Pacific Ocean and includes a wide, sandy space which opens to a
swimming area on one side and is flanked by the 10 story
Marriott Marina Beach
hotel on the other Seen in the picture above in the
distance is yet another hotel, the Five Diamond
The Ritz-Carlton Marina Del Rey.
With a fantastic children's play area, Mother's Beach enjoys sunny exposures
most the day till late afternoon when the sun is partially obstructed by the
Marriott building, casting a large shadow onto the beach. Inside the hotel,
some guests will enjoy the marina views from their hotel rooms and some will
catch the beautiful Pacific Ocean sunsets to the west.
We've recommended the kid-friendly
Marriott to many families seeking a quieter option to the beaches next door
in Venice and Santa Monica. Sure, the Santa Monica beaches enjoy Paradise
Park on the pier with tons of amusement rides, arcades and a carousel. This
attraction is so close that you can cruise on over on bicycle, roller blades
or by car to enjoy Santa Monica State Beach less than four miles away on the
beach path.
Moms and dads love the beach here
because there is no surf—only
climbing gyms, swings and a pirate ship for the kids. Picnic shelters and
restaurants are next to the beach, making for a great place to exercise and
enjoy fresh air with the children during or after a meal.
Mother's Beach is also known as Marina
Beach. That's because of its location along the marina at Marina del Rey.
Many consider this the perfect place to learn to kayak or windsurf.
Another place we can recommend for its peaceful waters is Alamitos Bay in
Long Beach. At Mother's Beach AKA Marina Beach, you can rent bicycles,
skates and volleyball for the sand court volleyball play. The beach also
features estrooms and outdoor showers.
